ucational goals
The School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) is at the College of IT Engineering in KNU and the school is equipped with international level facilities and infrastructures. The educational objectives of the school is to foster engineering experts with international and hands-on capability.

Since the 1970s', our school has been specialized as an educational institute to foster high level human resources for international industries by the Korean government. Since then, we have been updating the school facilities and infrastructures. From 1999 to 2005, our school had been supported by a human resource program of the Korean government (Brain Korea, BK21).

Through the BK21 program, most graduate students in our school had been supported in terms of research fund and living expenses. At the same time, undergraduate students were also supported by a government foster program especially for regional universities. From 1999 to 2002, the school had been ranked on top in the midterm evaluation among many regional universities.

Currently, from 2006, the graduate students in our school has been also supported by the second stage BK21 program by the Korean government until 2013. For undergraduate students, the school has a foster program called Global Human Resources Development Center for IT Convergence. Through the graduate and undergraduate support programs, we have a vision to jump up to a world top-50 class and research-oriented school to contribute to global industry development and to provide high-quality engineers and researchers.

Until today, more than 2,300 undergraduate students have received the degree of Bachelor of Science and more than 810 graduate students have received the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Engineering/Science. They have been currently leading domestic and international industries in computer and information technology by joining global leading companies such as Samsung or LG.

Currently, the school consists of 27 full time faculty members including a foreign faculty, 3 adjunct faculty members, 3 staffs, about 200 graduate students, and 520 undergraduate students. Among the undergraduate students, more than 60% are supported by many scholarship and tuition waiver programs. Every year, more than 90% of the undergraduate students enter graduate schools, major companies, medium companies, research institutes, and government organizations. Some students also study abroad after their graduation.

To foster undergraduate students, the school have many educational systems and programs. To provide practical experiences for the undergraduate students, the school offers 'Sandwich internship program', 'Personal tutor for major coursework', 'Certificate program', 'Foreign language test program', etc. In addition, the school offers international internship program, international IT education program, foreign language study program with a pre-internship, etc. Through the systems and programs for undergraduate students, our school makes an effort to be a world top-50 educational institute in the era of IT convergence.
